Tailgates, Football, and Funnel Cakes!

On Saturday, NC State had their first home football game, so everyone was excited to finally start tailgating!  Since I live in the international dorm, none of the exchange students know what tailgating is or have ever experienced it before.  This is a very American experience, and once people figure out what to expect, everyone gets very excited for the first home game.

Personally, I don’t like football, so for me, football games are mainly about the tailgating!  For those of you that don’t know, tailgating is sort of a celebration before the game.  Everyone gathers in parking lots outside of the football stadium a few hours before the game starts.  People are excited about the game, and we play games, grill, and have food and drinks.  It is soooo much fun, and it’s all about being together having fun.

The football game starts around 6, so me and Mads went to go help set up the tailgate around one in the afternoon with all the other Americans that live in the dorm.  Me and Mads didn’t really help putting up tables or anything, but we hung out with everyone and started to play games!  Eventually, the whole dorm showed up, and it was so much fun to see everyone having so much fun, haha!

Once it starts getting close to 6, it is time to head to the game!  Me and Mads got there a little before, and got some really good close seats!  We also got a funnel cake which is always so delicious.

We both realized that we had never been to a game so early!  We were able to see the marching band in the beginning and all the fire works!

After the opening show, the game started.  It was NC State versus Marshall.  Me and Mads did not stay very long, but we got to see a little bit of the game before we left!

We took a taxi home, had a great nap, and then ate an ice cream sundae!  What a great way to end a great day!
